Darrell Hall Obituary, A Longtime Resident Of Moweaqua Illinois Has Passed Away

Darrell Hall Obituary, Death – Sadly, Moweaqua resident Darrell D. Hall went away on March 27, 2024, at the age of 68, in Decatur, IL’s St. Mary’s Hospital. Upon learning of his departure, our hearts sank. The funeral for Darrell will take place at Moweaqua’s Adams-Gorden Cemetery. In Sycamore, Illinois, a son named Darrell was born to Richard E. Hall and Betty (Drake) Hall on February 21, 1956.

His marriage to Melanie Gorden took place on March 14, 1981, in Moweaqua, Illinois. Besides being a prosperous grain farmer, Darrell was well-known as a sheep breeder who brought forth 30 breed-specific National Champions and 3 breed-specific Supreme Champions. He was a board member for the Oxford Sheep Association in both the United States and Illinois.

Not only did Darrell travel the country showing off his sheep and mingling with other breeders, but he also mentored youth in the art of sheep production, fitting, and displaying. During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Darrell’s family and friends. I hope the memories of their time together and his impact on the world bring them comfort.

During his tenure in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program, Darrell achieved multiple accolades, including the American FFA Degree and the State and National Runner-Up Sheep Production Award, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to success. In addition to his tremendous athleticism, he was a world-class basketball player and coach.
